The Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar offers a program for voice teachers, vocal coaches and master/doctoral students of vocal pedagogy and collaborative piano.
As a teacher and a performer, I found Fall Island invigorating and inspiring. I want to return every year! – Dr. Kathleen Roland-Silverstein 2016
This week was a gift of total immersion into the study and performance of American Art Song of living composers. Full access to the expertise of Dr. Alan Louis Smith, Ms. Blythe, Dr. Busch and Dr. Graham was an absolute privilege. This intensive program allowed for my own personal growth and inspiration as both an artist and a teacher. – Dr. Colleen Skull
The program will begin on Tuesday, May 22 (5:30PM dinner) and conclude on Sunday, May 27 (following the final afternoon recital and group dinner). The program involves observing masterclasses (Stephanie Blythe and Alan Smith working with Fellowship Artists on the music of living American composers), performing in a special topics class led by Dr. Gary Busch, participating in group activities, and a special Q&A with Ms. Blythe and Dr. Smith. Participants will receive a formal letter of completion for their professional file.
The cost for auditing the seminar is $400 (which includes six group dinners). Auditors are responsible for their own accommodations and transportation to Potsdam, NY. Meals are on your own outside of the group dinners Tuesday through Sunday).
Housing options include private or shared, on-campus guest dorm room (if available); or one of our local hotels or B&B’s (visit Chamber of Commerce website).
